Sequence and Motion
Brianna's first picture on this assignment was my favorite one because it captures not only motion, but sequence as well. Not to mention my foot is in the bottom right side of the picture! She seemed to have used a relatively shallow point of view that captures two girls relatively close to each other, however, as my eyes moved back in the photo, I realized that it also has a sort of large depth of field as well. The flipping photo is well balanced having an equal amount of people on either side of the vertical center. Brianna managed to snap the second photo in the sequence at the right time as well because nobody is on the ground (excluding the gentlemen in the back), and it looks really cool.
Brianna's second picture was an awesome sequence picture because it feels as if I was there, watching these people pass by on the chairlift. She used a vertical format on both pictures which worked out really well. At first i didn't like it too much because on the first photo in the sequence there is allot of white emptiness at the bottom. However, I realized that it helps show that they are a distance away.
Brianna's last picture, of her niece jumping on the trampoline, was a good blur motion picture as well as a sequence one. In the first photo in the sequence, the little girl appears to be just starting her jump and is captured in the middle of the photo. In the second picture of the sequence since she in not completely caught on camera, and in closer in view, it makes it seem like the girl is almost jumping at you. I think that the sequence would have been even more cool if she aligned the fence and the trampoline side by side in each picture.
Light
The first picture in Brianna's light project appeared to be taken at sunset which made a dramatic cast of the boys shadow, spanning all the way across the picture from the bottom right corner, to the top left corner. She used a vertical format and rule of thirds. I also like how the person in the picture appears to be looking at the shadow, drawing ones eye in that direction.
Brianna's second picture in this project was of a profile of a man standing up in the sun. However, it is only his shadow being cast upon a brick wall. This photo is also in vertical format and is well balanced for it is a simple picture. I like how you can really see the texture in the bricks, even more-so on the ones that are darker because of the mans shadow.
Her third picture is also a simple one showing a candle and its reflection on a shinny table. Since it is a reflection photo it is very well balanced and was shot in vertical format. Using a shallow depth of field and shooting in the dark, Brianna managed to capture only a small amount of surrounding image which made what was sitting behind it sort of a mystery.
At first i didn't really like her fourth picture showing a couple of coals. There seemed to be too much dark surrounding what the picture was really about. My views changed a little bit when i realized it looked like all the darkness appeared to be encompassing the glowing red coals. The ashiness on the edges of the coals really made it look this way.
Brianna's final picture is a silhouette, but not just any silhouette. It is the reflection of a silhouette! Her head covers up the light at the end of the hallway, which really helped make this picture. It is broken up by frame within a frame by the window and is overall a really cool picture.
